The Radical Guide to Life Insurance: Should you buy group term life insurance through your employer?

Though convenient, avoid buying life insurance through your employer. Why? These sort of policies take into consideration all of the health issues affecting your fellow employees. If you are a healthy non-smoker, you don’t want to be coupled with others whose health, habits and activities may bring higher premiums for the group. When you leave your job your policy may also be cancelled.  However, an individual policy will remain in effect for as long as you pay the premium.
