If you don't have a computer:
- Internet cafes are located throughout Beijing. Hours of operation vary.
- Most hotels have business centers where the Internet is available.
- They both typically charge reasonable rates for access -- up to RMB 20 per hour.
If you have a computer:
- Internet access using dial-up is available.
- You don't need an Internet service provider.
- The government provides access for free -- though you may have to pay phone charges.
- For dial-up, configure your computer to dial 16900 -- login: 169 and password: 169.
- Alternative dial-up phone number is 16300 -- login: 163 and password: 163.
Wireless Internet access:
- Wireless Internet is available in many cafes throughout Beijing.
- Starbuck's has wireless in many locations.
- You typically have to pay for access.
